Newcastle officials in Germany to watch Bundesliga goal-machine – Report

Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s in-form striker Omar Marmoush, according to reports.

TBR report that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City have all been keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old, but add that Newcastle have also sent a scout to check out the Egyptian in ‘recent weeks.’

So far this term, Marmoush has netted 18 goals and 11 assists in 18 games, a quite incredible return just months after the versatile forward turn down a summer move to Nottingham Forest.

Frankfurt’s sporting director Timmo Hardung has made it clear that he wants to keep the attacker until the summer at least, so the asking price would be sky-high in January.

The Magpies are also linked with Brazilian duo Yuri Alberto and Igor Jesus, who are mentioned in TBR’s piece, but it appears that Marmoush is the latest striker being watched.

Although Newcastle clearly have no interest in selling Alexander Isak, it’s believed talks over a new improved deal for the Swede have been stalling, even though his current deal ends in 2028, while Callum Wilson has faced an uphill battle with recurring injuries and may leave on a free transfer next summer as he enters the final six months of his current deal.

The pair’s future isn’t entirely clear which means that another forward signing could be high on the agenda for sporting director Paul Mitchell.

Speaking about potential transfer, Frankfurt director Timmo Hardung recently said: “We are very happy with Omar at our club. He has a great personality and is an excellent footballer. At the moment, there’s no reason to sell him.”

In addition to Marmoush, Newcastle may also be keeping an eye on fellow Frankfurt star and former target Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman was high on the club’s radar before he moved to Paris Saint-Germain, where he endured a poor tenure. However, at Frankfurt he is flying with nine goals and five assists in all competitions this season.
