Newcastle have been linked with making a move for a prominent Wolves player during the winter transfer window.
Wolves have been in or amongst the relegation zone throughout the current campaign, with their defensive frailties seeing them struggle in 17th place despite only seven sides outsourcing them.
Back-to-back wins under new manager Vitor Pereira have seen the West Midlands side enjoy a recent resurgence, although there’s a certain Brazilian they’ll be struggling to keep a hold of as we head into 2025.
Matheus Cunha linked with Magpies move
According to TBR’s latest ‘exclusive’ this week, Newcastle are one of several Premier League clubs keen on Matheus Cunha.
The Brazilian has contributed to 14 goals for strugglers Wolves this season, with two of those coming against Manchester United on Boxing Day, and has been a bright light during a dark spell for the Black Country outfit.
We are believed to be amongst some Premier League giants to share an interest in the attacker, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United also keen on Cunha.
This one may be a non-starter, for January at least, with it being understood that Cunha will not try to force a move away in the winter – and with his stock continuing to rise and Wolves still technically embroiled in a relegation battle, they won’t want to lose their key forward midway through the season.
Great player, wrong position?
In terms of his profile and his fit into the Howe system, Cunha would be a perfect acquisition – however his main positions, as a centre-forward or on the left of a front three, are where we are strongest in the front line.
It’s exactly the type of player I would love us to bring in on the right. Cunha is high speed, high energy, and has the quality in his boots to match the speed, he’s versatile and knows where the goal is but links up well with those around him.
Only way I could see this story holding some truth is if we were scouting him just in case we had to replace Gordon or Isak, as he can cover those two positions; but rarely ever plays on the right.
No chance of him signing for Newcastle with bigger clubs interested.

Behave, why would Cunha leave a massive club for one that is no bigger and only big in the north east were there is very little competition, he could walk into any top four team so why Newcastle 🤣🤣🤣🤣🖕🤣🤣🤣🤣.

They would need to sell Barnes before they could even entertain this move. Doubt it would happen, more likely that he would go to Chelsea or Arsenal.

Wolves likely get relegated so I can see him moving on to a bigger club with more opportunity and growth .. spurs nope, farcenal serial failures, Man City yes , Liverpool don’t need , Chelsea l don’t need .. so I think they”new” top 6 clubs like Newcastle and villa ..but Newcastle need a specialist winger

Same old same old Newcastle linked with everybody who has kicked a football! Wait and see. The main priority is to keep what they have and not sell the top players!

Wolves have made it quite clear so please note “ Cunha will not be sold in the January transfer period”. So no more” reports” and pick on some other teams player .
