Newcastle receive new offer for Miguel Almiron - Report
Fresh speculation on Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle future has emerged, with one unnamed Brazilian club said to have already submitted an offer for the Paraguayan.
In a report from The Mail’s Craig Hope, the club is NOT one of Botafogo or Santos; two other Brazilian sides thought to be keen on the winger.
In recent years, the Brazilian Serie A has seen some of the top South American stars spend their twilight years there, including current talents like Hulk and Lucas Moura.
Greek giants one to watch
Hope reveals that Olympiacos are also ‘one to watch’ and are understood to have a vested interest in Almiron.
Having just released former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian from his contract, there is certainly space on the right wing at the Super League side.
However, Almiron and his agent Daniel Campos are said to be commanding a hefty price tag for his services, with Hope describing wages and Campos’ demands as a “stumbling block” for the unnamed Brazilian side who’ve lodged a bid.
Almiron exit imminent?
With a mere 10 appearances and 300 minutes accumulated so far this season, it does seem increasingly likely that Almiron will depart Newcastle within the next six months.
He's been a decent servant and played a key role in helping us to that fourth place finish the season before last, but has since lost his place to Jacob Murphy down the right side of our attack.
Outgoings remain top priority on Tyneside, with any potential activity in both the January and Summer windows looking incredibly dependent on shipping the likes of Almiron, Matt Targett and Sean Longstaff to new clubs.
