Nightmare for Spurs ahead of Newcastle clash – A crisis to soften Fabian Schar blow

Newcastle United have been given a few helping hands in recent weeks. Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte were suspended for Monday’s trip to Man Utd and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is set to miss BOTH our semi-final legs against Arsenal.

This time it’s Spurs who are struggling and set to be without a number of important players for Saturday’s early kick-off, more than balancing out the fact Fabian Schar will be absent for us through suspension.

Here’s the latest as the North London side contend with a nightmare mix of suspension and injury issues

Two more ruled out for Tottenham

Spurs’ injury and availability crisis has gone from bad to worse ahead of our 12.30pm clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Rodrigo Bentancur will be unavailable after being shown his fifth yellow of the season in the dying moments of the two-all draw against Vitor Pereira’s side, and a hamstring injury suffered by Destiny Udogie earlier in the second half has added to their woes.

The injury crisis at the back has seen a makeshift back line that has leaked goals. The Italian fullback will join Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies in the treatment room, alongside first choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Furthermore, Radu Dragusin also not fully fit and played through an injury against Wolves alongside teenager Archie Gray who is not in his natural position at centre-back.

Alleged Newcastle target Richarlison is also out, indicative of why it would be a risky move for the £50m rated Brazilian, as is Wilson Odobert who has suffered recurring hamstring injuries.

Big chance to capitalise

Spurs’ struggles this season have been well-documented, but we are a perfect example of how an impressive run of form can quickly make the season look completely different.

They have to still be considered a top-six rival and we can’t waste the opportunity to widen the gap on the North London side and continue our good run of form into a favourable run of league fixtures.

Wolves, Bournemouth and Fulham at home as well as Southampton away offer a great opportunity to continue on our upward trajectory in the four league games after – and confidence can be even higher with a strong showing in the capital.
