Newcastle confirm loan move and released Mag signs for former Toon defender
A former Newcastle United player has now found himself a new home for the first time since leaving the club in the summer while forgotten man Isaac Hayden has sealed another loan move.
It won’t solve Newcastle’s financial troubles, but for the fans it’s good to see players who have represented the club well and always given everything find a new home and take on a different challenge.
Midfielder completes fourth loan spell away from Newcastle
Newcastle have confirmed that Isaac Hayden is heading out on loan yet again as he joins Championship side Portsmouth on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
After being cast out by Eddie Howe since he arrived as manager, Hayden has now had four loan spells at Norwich, Standar Liege, QPR and Portsmouth where he’ll be hoping to recapture his best form.
It’s a tricky one for both the club and player as his contract at St James’ Park doesn’t expire until 2026, but the 29-year-old will no doubt be on good money he can’t find elsewhere and may be unwilling to give that up.
Hayden is amongst the last of the deadwood that the club have slowly but surely been getting rid of but it looks like they’ll have to deal with the former Arsenal man remaining on the books until his contract expires next year.
Released Mag signs for Mike Williamson!
It was also announced yesterday that Paul Dummett has now signed for League Two side Carlisle United after spending six months without a club after his contract at Newcastle expired over the summer.
The defender will be playing under another former Newcastle man and Dummett’s former teammate Mike Williamson, who has been in the job for a few months now after joining from MK Dons.
Dummett has a lot of work to do with Williamson’s side currently sitting at the bottom of the table, but he’ll be hoping that the 33-year-old’s experience will give the whole team a boost in the coming weeks.
