Newcastle ‘hold talks’ with 34-goal striker in fear of Alexander Isak exit – Report

Newcastle United’s contingency plan should Alexander Isak depart has been ‘revealed’.

Isak’s ability is unquestionable and his output this season has been one of the best in the Premier League. Thus, the media deem little old Newcastle unworthy of the Swede as they peddle their ‘big six’ propaganda drivel with constant links to the striker.

It would have to be a record-breaking sum to take the 25-year-old away from St. James’ Park. But, should any club succeed, sporting director Paul Mitchell will have his work cut out to find a top-quality replacement. And, according to a new report, he already has another free-scoring forward in mind.

Gyokeres identified in worst-case scenario?

Newcastle will move for Viktor Gyokeres if fellow Swede Isak is sold by the Magpies this summer, according to an exclusive from FootballTransfers.

After reporting on our interest in early December, they state that Toon officials have ‘held fresh talks’ over an ambitious move for the former Coventry forward.

The Sporting Lisbon forward has a €100m release clause attached to his contract, though the Portuguese side will accept a reduced fee for the sharpshooting striker who has already notched a stunning 34 goals so far this season.

If you’re going to lose your star man, then replacing him with one of the continent’s most sought after men is exactly the kind of statement Newcastle would need to make, not that we want to think about Isak leaving anytime soon.

Priority must be keeping Isak happy

Priority number one for PIF and Eddie Howe must be keeping Isak happy and within our future plans by any means necessary.

Whatever motivation the 25-year-old needs to remain a Newcastle player has to be met – though Gyokeres is a top striker, our star man feels irreplaceable. We must show ambition, re-secure Champions League football and invest in our squad this summer if that’s what it takes, with all three factors key to this project, regardless of Isak’s needs or wants.

Similarly, if Isak wants an improved contract to commit his future to our football club then it should be a no-brainer. He is one of the world’s most elite goalscorers and one you don’t get through the door often.

  1. Why could it not be that NUFc want them both – they play together for Sweden so makes sense that they could play together for Newcastle

  2. How many times does the transfer of Isaak have ti be denied to stop ill-informed wannabe journalists producing silly clickbait headlines.?

  3. @Michael Dunn I completely agree! Just imagine how lethal our attack could become with the right additions. Our midfield is already solid and has sufficient cover for injuries. However, our forward line definitely needs strengthening. A few reinforcements in defense to address the aging backline would be a smart move, and adding two quality goalkeepers wouldn’t be a bad idea either

No one is saying he is definitely leaving, but I’m almost certain the club will be assessing options *just in case* we don’t get UCL and his head is turned by a monstrous bid this summer.

  5. I disagree we are actually short upfront right now..if callum wilson leaves end of the season – (we have option to extend for one year) but he is injured until mid february ….we only have Will Usula – who is a work in progress.

selling Isak for Gyokeres – puts us in the same position.

  6. If Isak is sold you can kiss Champions League goodbye. What worries me about Isak was his performance against Bournemouth, where was he? Truly great players make a show even on an off day.

You’re right about Bournemouth, but place the blame in exactly the wrong place. Isak did nowt at all, correct. He was given no ball at all. No striker can score without the ball.
