An out-on-loan Newcastle United academy graduate is continuing to impress on his spell outside of the North East.
Our loan system has been subject to criticism after failed spells for Garang Kuol at Hearts and Volendam, and Alex Murphy’s time at Bolton getting off to a disappointing start with manager Ian Evatt sacked immediately after the defender’s arrival.
Former Mag Elliot Anderson’s time at Bristol Rovers was a standout success, however, and the latest midfielder of ours impressing in League Two is Joe White.
Geordie midfielder scores again
White notched his sixth goal of the season last night for MK Dons in a 2-1 win over Harrogate Town.
In just 17 league starts this season. the 22-year-old has notched up seven goal involvements from midfield and his latest strike was a lovely solo goal, seeing him cut in from the right, ghost past a few players and fire home.
See the midfielder’s goal against Harrogate below:
White’s loan spell was recently extended until the end of the season for Milton Keynes, who are seven points shy of the play-off spots.
Our Academy talent was linked with a mid-season loan elsewhere, with League One and Championship clubs said to be sniffing around, but he opted to remain at MK Dons, where he is starting regularly, scoring and building in confidence at senior level.
Loan form could help with summer sale?
As with Jamie Miley, who is now close to completing a move to Hartlepool United, the young midfielder is unlikely to break into Howe’s first-team plans.
Now 22, it feels as though the ship has sailed for White, but his recent form may work in our favour in terms of securing a small fee over the summer, with several EFL sides likely to be interested.
Glad to see he’s doing well. Sorry that it’s at a fake club.

Sorry – can’t get excited about a 22 year old “impressing” at a 4th division club.
