Newcastle in talks over late loan with short-term deal discussed – Report

There could well be late links with potential incomings before tonight’s 11pm deadline, but it seems increasingly likely that our ‘January’ window ends with no incomings.

As for outgoings, it’s far less exciting but quite likely that we see one or two depart, whether that’s Lloyd Kelly completing a move to Juventus or a young talent head out on loan.

The latter could be true for Garang Kuol; the Aussie talent who has had a tough few years since arriving on Tyneside.

Toon in talks over Kuol loan?

According to reports Down Under, Newcastle have held talks over a mid-season loan move for Garang Kuol.

The West Australian are reporting that A-League side Macarthur FC have emerged as a potential option for the 20-year-old talent following preliminary talks with Newcastle.

They are keen to take the forward on a short-term deal until the end of the season, allowing Kuol to head back to his homeland before returning to Tyneside this summer.

Kuol was denied a loan move last summer due to a pre-season injury and has recently been playing for the U21s, where he’s found the net in recent games against Gateshead and Southampton.

U21 boss speaks out

Speaking last month about Kuol’s future, Newcastle’s U21 manager Diarmuid O’Carroll insisted that Kuol’s next move must be “tailored to the needs of the player” and not a “token gesture.”

The youngster has previously endured tough loan spells at Hearts and Dutch side Volendam, so it’s vital we get this one right for his confidence and development at senior level.

“We don’t want to send someone for a token gesture because it looks good to send them on loan,” said Newcastle’s U21 boss O’Carroll last week.

“We want from now on every loan to be tailored to the needs of the player.”

  1. “We want from now on every loan to be tailored to the needs of the player”

    Very telling comment

“From now on” suggests what I’ve thought for a long time and that our loan department hasn’t been fit for purpose either, time to put Shola the Ashley apologist out to grass

  2. Seems many mid table teams signing decent players on loan, then you have the villains sign Marco Asensio on loan from PSG as well as Rashford. Spurs signing players.
We are short of players and likely to stumble to 7 to 10th due to this scenario. Seems our DofS has gone missing.
