“On his way to England” – Manager confirms Newcastle look set to sign 18-year-old talent

Newcastle United may not be making any incoming signings for the first-team this month, but there is still lots of working being done behind the scenes to continue investing in top youth talent.

There were reports last week that we were set to bring in an exciting talent from Turkey, and now his manager is claiming the deal is down to the official signature.

Newcastle agree deal to sign 18-year-old attacker

Reports from Turkey claimed that Gençlerbirligi  youngster Baran Yıldız was close to signing for the Magpies last week on a four-and-a-half year deal.

Now, their manager, Ali Ekber Düzgün, has been quoted by Turkish outlet Hurriyet claiming that, while the deal has not yet been concluded, Yildiz will be on his way to England so long as there are no complications.

The teenager is yet to actually make his first-team debut for the second division club but has been working his way through thier youth levels and has clearly impressed our scouts in his 27 appearances.

On the move, manager Düzgün said:

“In the case of Baran’s transfer (to Newcastle), the work is down to the official signature. It has not yet been officially concluded. But as long as there are no surprises, our young football player is on his way to England.”

Newcastle face stumbling block with potential signing

Although it looks like both sides are working to get this deal done, the reports also suggest that it will be difficult for Newcastle to get a work permit and that Yildiz could be loaned back to his club.

This wouldn’t exactly be ideal, but it does mean the youngster can continue his development in a familiar setting while we work on the transition to bring him over to England in the long-term.

It’s not the huge, exciting news that Newcastle supporters had been hoping for from the transfer window, but there are still deals trying to be made and work going on to improve the different levels of the club.
