Bookies release Newcastle verdict – Top four chances, Carabao Cup final and FA Cup

It was a tongue and cheek post, but The Mail’s Craig Hope released an amusing Newcastle United fact after Liverpool’s shock FA Cup exit at Plymouth on Sunday afternoon:

‘Newcastle are now the only club who can win the domestic treble.’

Of course, we aren’t winning the title, but it says a lot about our season and how much there is to play for between now and late May!

Bookies rate Newcastle’s chances

With Champions League football up for grabs, we’ll start by looking at the latest projections for Newcastle to finish in the top four. Here’s how the bookies currently see it:

Premier League – Top four race

  1. Liverpool – 1/500
  2. Arsenal – 1/100
  3. Man City – 4/7
  4. Chelsea – 4/7
  5. Nottingham Forest – 13/8
  6. Newcastle – 9/4
  7. Bournemouth – 6/1
  8. Aston Villa – 14/1

Then to the Carabao Cup final, where we must overcome Liverpool on Sunday 16th March to lift our first domestic trophy or 70 years.

The bookies currently have Arne Slot’s Reds as 2/7 favourites, with Eddie Howe’s Mags priced at 5/2 as of Monday morning.

Last but not least, the FA Cup, where Newcastle United booked their place in the fifth round following our hard-fought 3-2 win at Birmingham on Saturday.

Before tonight’s draw shortly after 7pm on BBC One, here’s how the bookies have it for the outright winner:

  1. Man City – 9/4
  2. Newcastle – 5/1
  3. Man Utd – 6/1
  4. Aston Villa – 7/1
  5. Bournemouth – 8/1
  6. Brighton – 9/1
  7. Nottingham Forest – 12/1 (play Exeter on Tuesday)
  8. Fulham – 12/1
  9. Crystal Palace – 16/1 (play Doncaster tonight)
  10. Wolves – 28/1
  11. Ipswich – 33/1
  12. Burnley – 66/1
  13. Millwall – 80/1
  14. Preston – 100/1
  15. Cardiff – 150/1
  16. Plymouth – 200/1
  17. Exeter – 500/1
  18. Doncaster – 500/1

So much to play for and, according to the bookies, we’re currently backed to finish sixth in the league, the underdogs at Wembley against Liverpool and second favourites to win the FA Cup behind Pep Guardiola’s Man City.

How do you see us getting on in all three competitions?
