Alexander Isak’s current wage revealed as Newcastle prepare for talks – Report

Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United wages have been revealed with contract talks expected to begin this year.

The Swede has been heavily linked in the media with a move to Arsenal, but Isak gave no indication in his sit down interview with Alan Shearer that a transfer was likely to come to fruition.

Newcastle are expected to enter talks over a contract extension in the summer to raise his current wage, with the club looking to reward their centre-forward who has scored 17 Premier League goals this season.

Isak’s wages revealed ahead of contract talks

Mark Douglas at the i has reported that Isak makes £145,000 per week in the north east and that figure that may rise before the end of the summer – but contract talks “might not be straightforward.”

A deal extending his contract would in turn help to stretch the amortised value of £63m over a longer period, so it would make sense from a PSR perspective for the club too, even if his wages are to receive a bump.

Isak’s agent may well push for a release clause akin to the one inserted in Bruno Guimaraes contract almost a year ago, and is the standout sticking point that may complicate the deal with Newcastle desperate to keep the superstar in their ranks.

Newcastle have ‘no plans’ to sell

The i Paper also understands that Isak is considered the member of Newcastle’s squad who is “most likely” to secure the Magpies a return to Champions League football. There is no intent to sell, thus a value is difficult to attach.

Douglas stated: “In reality Newcastle have not gone down the road of formulating a valuation because, The i Paper understands, there is no intention of selling the man most likely to help them punch their ticket back into the Champions League.

Isak is irreplaceable and we need to prioritise building around him, not using any fee generated to reinvest. To keep the player happy with a view to the future it may take more than just a pay rise, and Champions League football may well be key to keeping him happy in the long run.

  1. Kind of bored with all the media/Pundits selling our players, they should be pointing out how PSR is stagnating the growth of all the other teams apart from the cartel6.
