With Champions League football returning to St James’ Park next season, the allure of the Newcastle United to European stars is back to where it should be.
We saw it in 2023 when Sandro Tonali was poached from AC Milan so soon after the Italian played a semi-final for his boyhood club.
Two summers on, if reports are to be believed, a top talent from the current Champions League holders PSG is on our radar over a summer move.
It would be a truly sensational coup if we were to sign this player, but he certainly won’t be cheap, even if he doesn’t feature so regularly in Luis Enrique’s best XI these days.
Newcastle showing interest in top PSG star
According to El Nacional, Newcastle are one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing PSG attacker Bradley Barcola.
Barcola, who provided an assist in a short cameo during Saturday’s Champions League final, has fallen down the pecking order in Paris in recent months.
The rise of Desire Doue and January signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has left Barcola missing out on a starting place in Luis Enrique’s first team.
The report states that the youngster’s entourage are exploring potential summer moves, with ourselves, Spurs and Arsenal amongst those interested.

What would it take to sign Bradley Barcola?
With a reported market value of over £50m, it will take close to a club record fee if we’re going to convince PSG to part with one of their best youngsters.
However, after some huge spending from the Parisians over the past few windows, even they may be forced to consider selling.
El Nacional mentions that “The summer will be long for PSG. In this context, Barcola’s departure could fit as a strategic move , both to balance the scores and to avoid tensions in a squad full of stars.”
And we all know how desperate Eddie Howe’s side are for attacking options ahead of our increased schedule next season, so if we were to snatch up Barcola at the same price we would be expected to pay for a player like Tyler Dibling, then it would certainly be money well spent.
Basically a left winger (70%) of his starts in that position. A possible replacement for Barnes or Gorden but given we have Sanusi as well, this is highly unlikely.
