Oliver Goodbrand set to sign for Newcastle with medical booked - Report
Newcastle United look set to announce another youth signing in the coming days.
After yesterday's announcement that 18-year-old winger Antonio Cordero will become a Newcastle player on July 1st once his Malaga contract expires, it's now emerged that another teenage talent is heading to Tyneside.
As revealed by The Mail's Craig Hope on Friday afternoon, the club look set to sign Rangers prospect Oliver Goodbrand.
The 16-year-old left-back is highly-rated and has received 'interest from abroad', but Newcastle have won the race for his signature.
Hope reports that the player is due on Tyneside for a medical and will go into the club's academy ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Goodbrand was linked with a move to Newcastle back in April, with Scottish outlet The Daily Record reporting that we were closing in on a deal.
The youngster has largely operated at left-back over his early career, but has shown impressive versatility and broke into Rangers' B team at 15-years-old, as well as captaining Scotland at youth level.
It's believed Goodbrand was offered professional terms to stay in Glasgow, however, he'll instead head to the North East to join Newcastle United's academy.
This follows recent academy moves for Irish winger Kyle Fitzgerald and Turkish midfielder Baran Yildiz earlier this year, with both slotting straight into our Under-18 side.
