Antonio Cordero set for Champions League loan offer with Newcastle plans in place
Last week, Newcastle's first signing of the summer was announced as Antonio Cordero was officially unveiled.
The Spaniard will arrive once his contract at Malaga expires later this month, with the 18-year-old winger signing on a free transfer.
In Newcastle's club statement confirming the move, we made no secret of our plans to loan out the youngster, with Paul Mitchell also discussing the need to find the right move for Cordero heading into the 2025/26 season.
A week later, a few options have emerged, including one Dutch giant set to compete in the UEFA Champions League next term.
Cordero's loan offers
According to talkSPORT's Ben Jacobs, Ajax are looking to sign Antonio Cordero on a season-long loan deal - although they are not the only ones.
The Spanish media linked the teenager with a potential move to Amsterdam last month and it seems their interest is genuine.
Ajax were pipped to the Eredivisie title on the final day of the 2024/25 season, but they will compete in the Champions League next season, much like Yankuba Minteh did after joining Feyenoord shortly after his arrival on Tyneside.
Jacobs reports that Cordero has also received interest from Germany and Spain, although no clubs are mentioned on that front.
What he does state, however, is that the wide man will 'definitely' be heading out on loan next season, suggesting game time elsewhere will be prioritised at this stage over him potentially breaking into Eddie Howe's plans this summer.
