Newcastle closing in on new project signing and £90m duo in talks with Toon frontrunners

It looks like Newcastle United really are closing in on the signature of another young winger.

It may not be the big senior signing we're craving, but reports in South Korea last night claimed that 18-year-old talent Park Seung-Soo is expected to sign this summer.

A story out of the blue, but The iPaper's Mark Douglas has now backed up that story, with the North East writer revealing that Newcastle are closing in on the signing of another 'project player' after landing Antonio Cordero earlier this month.

Douglas explains that Park, currently with K-League 2 side Suwon Bluewings, has previously had trials with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and has also received interest from Premier League side Wolves.

The iPaper report that a deal is 'progressing' to bring the Korean teenager to Tyneside, with a couple of first team deals also being worked on, with talks continuing over £30m-rated Burnley stopper James Trafford and Brighton's Joao Pedro.

Once again, Douglas believes Newcastle are 'in the ascendancy' to land Pedro, despite interest from Chelsea, with Toon chiefs currently trying to negotiate a deal below Brighton's £60m asking price for the Brazilian.

In the same piece, he also reports that Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini is a target at centre-back, along with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi.
