Newcastle release behind-the-scenes footage from brilliant third kit video

Despite some initially mixed-reviews online, Newcastle United’s third kit looks like it’s gone down well with most fans.

And that’s in no small part thanks to an excellent promotional video filmed by Adidas promoting the launch of the kit.

Featuring the likes of Sam Fender, Asim Chaudhry and club cult hero Jonas Gutierrez, it’s another sensational effort, just like the launch of our 1995-96-inspired away kit from last season.

And now the club has released exclusive behind-the-scenes footage behind the shoot, with some inter sting features that even eagle-eyed fans may not have picked up on.

It’s part and parcel of ‘modern football’ that the club goes out of its way to produce captivating social media content, but the clear emphasis on players like Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, two players always attracting rumours over potential departures, shows that they’re still very much two ‘faces’ of the club and are front and centre of everything we do promotional-wise.

Another of the club’s current ‘figureheads’ in Dan Burn even remarks “I’m going to be asked to do my dance, which is standard at these things.”

His chemistry with Osula as the pair dance and play pool showcase how tightly knit the entire team is.

Tapping into the retro aspect of the third kit launch and the iconic status of the 1997-98 kit, the club’s complete embrace of nostalgia and memories from the past is a very welcome sight.

This includes Jonas Gutierrez’s cameo, where the Argentine comments “For me, this is one of the best places in the world.”

“To be around in the city, to come to the stadium is something I really appreciate.”

“I think it’s very good to make these type of things because the fans of Newcastle love that.”

The entire shoot looks to have gone down incredibly well with fans, the men’s team and women’s stars alike, and will go a long way to helping the club strengthen its ties to the local community as well as earn new supporters.

Away kit coming next?

With how much focus we’ve put on the retro-inspired kits, and with Burn explicitly stating that this was the “third kit”, could we potentially see a major promotional video for our upcoming away kit? It seems far less likely.

If the supposed leaks are true and we’ve again adopted a green and white strip, then this will naturally draw criticism from rival fans and the media.

So whilst it would be nice to see the kit in question get promotion, it may be understandable why the club wants to put all its effort into highlighting the third kit and to avoid any unnecessary criticism.

When the club released a similar green kit back in 2023/24, the only online promotion it received were site articles and promo photos on social media. Expect the same when our away kit gets announced ahead of the upcoming season.
