Newcastle need major signings more than anything, but two talents look set to depart this week.
The new season starts in just over two weeks time and we’ve got four key positions to fill and a huge Alexander Isak issue to sort, but also some fringe men and young prospects to move on; either for good or to gain vital senior minutes.
On that note, two loans have been agreed and one has already been announced, with a familiar face from pre-season leaving for London and Antonio Cordero preparing for a medical.
White done, Cordero close
Starting with the done deal, Newcastle have announced today that Joe White has joined Leyton Orient on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old will spend the 2025/26 in League One, with Orient looking to go again in the third tier after narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship in May thanks to a Wembley defeat to Charlton.
White spent last season at MK Dons, scoring six goals in 34 games, but he’ll now move up a division and be part of the Os promotion push in what may be his last big chance to impress staff on Tyneside as he nears 23.
The Geordie talent featured in our 4-0 defeat to Celtic in pre-season and was with the senior side during our training camp in Austria. However, with an exit close, he did not link up with the squad for our tour of Asia.
As for Antonio Cordero, reports in Spain revealed on Sunday that a loan move to the Belgian Pro League was on the cards and that has proved correct.
The Athletic have confirmed that the 18-year-old has agreed to join KVC Westerlo for the upcoming season, with the plans to develop his game at senior level after he gained regular minutes in LaLiga 2 with Malaga last term.
Cordero is said to be undergoing his medical today, completing the formalities before his season-long switch to Westerlo is announced.
Not quite the eye-catching move to Ajax that was touted last month, but it could be a smart switch if he’s given regular minutes and coached well by a side who finished 9th in the Belgian top light in 2024/25.

So Olly has succumbed tot he temptation of intentional clickbait.
I thought he was above that!
If that’s the level he’s at I see no reason to check-in with NUFCblog for transfer news.
