Alexander Isak clause revealed & current whereabouts now public after Newcastle snub
The Alexander Isak saga is a complete and utter mess, much like Newcastle United's summer so far.
The striker clearly wants out and is doing his best to force a move, opting not to train with his teammates or join our pre-season tour of Asia.
Craig Hope reports that, last Monday, he was out on the training pitch before leaving the field due to a 'thigh issue', which came back completely clear after a scan. I'll let you join the dots.
That was the 'official' reason he didn't fly out to Singapore and South Korea, but an update has arrived on Thursday regarding his current whereabouts, which has only added to Newcastle fans' frustration.
Sky Sports' Keith Downie reveals that he's currently in Spain, training at former club Real Sociedad with his own fitness coaches. Again, an interesting choice when an 'injury' was said to be the reason he couldn't join Howe, staff and the players on his own club's pre-season tour...
On the subject of his former club, Downie also reveals that Real Sociedad actually have a sell-on clause that was inserted into his £63m move to St James' Park in August 2022.
Sky Sports reveal that the Basque club will receive 10% of 'every euro above a €70m transfer fee', meaning they could be due a sizeable payout should Liverpool stump up the £150m+ required.
But will they? While Isak has been effectively on strike, we're yet to hear news of a formal bid, leaving Newcastle's striker situation in limbo.
