Bruno Guimaraes sends message to Amanda Staveley

Amanda Staveley has been a huge figure at Newcastle United over the last few years and beyond.

After her first visit to St James’ Park in October 2017, the PCP chief fought to not only find investment but to push through a takeover that the Premier League did their best to deny.

Once a deal was done, she brought energy, enthusiasm and total commitment to the role, backing the newly appointed Eddie Howe, negotiating deals and overseeing a crucial post-takeover phase that saw us stay up, qualify for the Champions League and reach the final of the Carabao Cup.

Last summer, Staveley’s sudden departure was announced, and it seems she is not only missed by Newcastle fans but players too based on Bruno Guimaraes’ latest post.

Responding to Staveley’s Instagram post wishing Becky Langley and Newcastle Women well for their big game in Birmingham yesterday, the Brazilian said: “Come back queen 🖤🤍”

It shows the connection she built that one of the star men in Eddie Howe’s senior team is saying such a thing, with Staveley offering that human connection from an ownership perspective that was always present.

Based on her emotional interview with Jake Humphrey on the High Performance podcast earlier this month, it sounds like she misses Newcastle dearly and may welcome a return in some form, should it be possible:

“Leaving was the hardest thing I have ever done and took a long time to understand and do what is right for the club, and PIF is going to be an incredible partner for Newcastle, and the Reubens.

“We left it in very safe hands. There are so many great people with great hearts who put so much into that club and into the community and into everything about it.

“So for me it was a privilege. Every day I would go to work and think, ‘God, I am so lucky to do this job’.”
