Newcastle get Man City! – Full FA Cup fifth round draw and dates for your diary

The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup has just taken place, live on TNT Sports ahead of Brentford’s trip to Macclesfield in the final fourth round tie.

Newcastle were ball number 13, and we’ve drawn Man City, who will travel to St James’ Park next month just a few weeks on from our semi-final meeting in the Carabao Cup.

The game will take place on Saturday 7th or Sunday 8th March, falling just a few days after our Premier League clash with Man Utd on Wednesday, 4th March.

Our route to the last 16 has featured back-to-back wins over Premier League opposition, starting with a penalty shootout win over Bournemouth (after a 3-3 draw) in the third round, before we overcame Aston Villa 3-1 in Saturday’s comeback victory at Villa Park.

See the full fifth round draw below, which features Sunderland playing away to Port Vale or Bristol City and Arsenal traveling to Mansfield.

  1. Fulham vs Southampton
  2. Port Vale or Bristol City vs Sunderland
  3. Newcastle United vs Man City
  4. Leeds United vs Norwich City
  5. Mansfield Town vs Arsenal
  6. Wolves vs Liverpool
  7. Wrexham vs Chelsea
  8. West Ham vs Macclesfield or Brentford

Another Premier League opponent and our toughest tie yet – but at least it’s at home.

I would like to see the balls released by a machine like the lottery, no one touching them.

  4. The fa cup is a joke. Who cares anymore. I don’t wanna say rigged but I kinda do wanna say rigged. I’ve been about for a while and am used to the bias. Rodri getting punished for what a lot of us are thinking is funny. Isn’t it a part of the human condition to be biased. I’m half out if football nowadays anyways. It’s a sport for stupid people

  5. Follow a sport where the rules are ironclad. That’s what I’m about nowadays. You’ve got idiots on sky sports talking about how var is useless. The only thing that’s useless is human bias. We act civilized but most mongs follow their noses.

  7. On our day at home we can beat most teams even the top ones.
Let’s just hope we are on fire that day.
The motivation will be that the FA Cup is our most realistic chance of success for this season.

  8. Speculation from Brazil suggests Bruno has a grade 3 hamstring issue, if that’s the case you’re talking 3 to 6 months out!
    6 months if surgery required.
