Bruno Guimaraes names two clubs he would play for after Newcastle

Newcastle United fans are bracing themselves for a big summer that could see at least one big-name star depart for pastures new.

Tino Livramento’s exit feels like a foregone conclusion for some reason, although there’s no solid evidence to suggest that he will leave the club in the summer. It’s just this bizarre feeling of inevitability given Manchester City’s keen interest and the fact that contract talks with Newcastle are on hold.

Meanwhile, Sandro Tonali’s name has been in the headlines practically every day since the January transfer window closed, with Manchester United and Arsenal coveting the Italian.

Man United’s name also popped up a few times alongside that of Bruno Guimaraes as the Red Devils made a list of potential replacements for Casemiro. Thankfully, the talk of Bruno moving to Old Trafford has died down.

Bruno Guimaraes won’t leave this summer

Newcastle fans feel fairly confident that the Brazilian will remain at St James’ Park next season, regardless of what happens between now and August.

Guimaraes has fallen in love with the club and the city and seems very settled on Tyneside, so we don’t see him being tempted to move anywhere this summer, even if the Magpies fail to secure European football.

However, that’s not to say that the 28-year-old hasn’t thought about where his career could take him. In a recent YouTube video for CazeTV, Bruno showed off his collection of shirts, where he presented a Vasco Da Gama shirt with his name and number on the back. Although he’s never played for Vasco, Bruno grew up supporting the Rio-based team and received the shirt as a gift from the club.

Bruno has eyes on a return to Brazil

The Toon skipper was then asked if he’d ever play for Vasco, and he admitted that it is something he’d ideally like to do if he returned to Brazil.

“Ah, man, I really want to. If I come back to Brazil, it’s either Athletico [Paranaense] or Vasco, man.”

Hopefully, this will be at the tail end of his career and not any time soon. I’m not sure we are quite ready to contemplate life without Bruno just yet, especially not if we’re going to lose Sandro Tonali in the summer.

We do wonder, though, with the lack of assurances over Eddie Howe’s future from David Hopkinson this week, would Bruno consider a move if Howe were to leave?
