Celtic to place £3 million bid for Newcastle United target

Celtic are planning to make a £3 million swoop for Scott Sinclair, according to reports from the Sunday Post.

Despite the arrivals of Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie this summer, Newcastle United remain in the hunt to sign more attacking players and recently, claims were being made that the Magpies are considering a move for Aston Villa attacker Scott Sinclair.

Sinclair struggled at Villa last season following his £2.5 million move from Manchester City but despite his troubles, the Chronicle had revealed last week that Newcastle were monitoring the former Swansea star.

Newcastle are not the only club interested in Sinclair though as even Celtic were mentioned to be in the running to sign the 27-year-old and now according to reports from the Sunday Post, revelations can be made that the Hoops are preparing a £3 million bid for the attacker.

Celtic already have had a £2 million offer rejected by Villa and now manager Brendan Rodgers is planning to ramp up his pursuit by tabling a larger bid in order to tempt the Championship side into selling as well as to stave off competition from Newcastle.
