Isaac Hayden is receiving widespread praise for his pre-season performances since joining Newcastle United from Arsenal.
Settling into the holding midfield role, the youngster has rendered talk of Cheick Tiote’s departure meaningless. A deal with Al – Jazira may be in the offing and speculation was fuelled by his absence last night.
Hayden has quickly settled into the starting XI. Last night at Southend, he and Vurnon Anita were in fine form and suggest Rafa won’t need to dip into the transfer market to replace the Ivory Coast man.
The pairing of Jonjo Shelvey and Hayden was commanding at Roots Hall and with a step up in opposition this weekend, it’s a good chance to see if the duo are ready for the Championship. Hayden played well in Lokeren and a repeat performance against the Dutch side will surely cement the pair into Rafa’s starting line-up at Craven Cottage next week.
