Tottenham target agrees a deal with Newcastle United

Tottenham Hotspur target Freddie Woodman has signed a new four year deal with Newcastle United.

Newcastle snapped up Woodman from Crystal Palace during the summer of 2013 and the young goalkeeper has managed to make a very positive impression at St. James’ Park, with many touting the 19-year-old to become a regular for the first team in the coming years.

However, Newcastle were faced with the prospect of losing Woodman as he had neared the end of his contract this summer and Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur were said to be keen on securing the services of the youngster.

As a huge source of relief for the Newcastle fans though, revelations can be made that the Magpies have been able to tie down Woodman to a brand new four year contract.

Following the confirmation of the deal, Woodman said, “I’m delighted. I’ve been at this club for five years and I do consider this place home now. It’s a great moment for me and my family to continue the journey with Newcastle and sign for four more years.”

Although very highly rated, Woodman will surely find it difficult to earn regular first team football during the upcoming Championship campaign as the likes of Tim Krul, Rob Elliott, Matz Sels and Karl Darlow are all ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.
