Some more transfer speculation surrounding Mo Diame today, with The Mirror reporting that the midfielder wants to be reunited with former boss Steve Bruce and is keen on the idea of making a January move to Aston Villa.
The 30-year old is firmly behind Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden and Mikel Merino in the midfielder pecking order at NUFC, and isn’t against dropping back down to the Championship in the search for regular first-team football according to The Chronicle.
Bruce – the current Villa boss – managed Diame during his time at Hull, with Mo being remembered for his stunning long range strike at Wembley, seeing Hull promoted to the Premier League in the play-off final against Sheffield Wednesday last May.

Diame scored 10 goals in that promotion season under Bruce at Hull and the ex-Sunderland boss is believed to be a big fan of his – however Villa’s ability to pull off a deal is in question due to financial fair play restrictions.
With this in mind, it has been suggested that any move would have to be at a cut-price fee or a loan deal.
Given his age, his decline at NUFC and his lack of any real future with the club, I suspect this is something Benitez would entertain if he the right deal could be agreed – also providing a replacement arrived given we’re a little light in midfield.
Let us know your thoughts folks – would you be happy to flog Diame on the cheap in January?
