NUFC scouts spotted watching in-form striker last week following prolific start to the season – Report

According to reports in Portugal, Newcastle scouts were spotted watching Porto’s cup tie against Vitória Guimarães last Thursday and were believed to be tracking in-form striker Vincent Aboubakar.

It was reported back in June that Benitez was keen to secure a £9m deal for the Cameroonian striker, but six months on and an astonishing 21 goals later (in just 24 games!), he looks set to be worth a heck of a lot more than the fee mooted over the summer.

He scored from the spot in the game NUFC scouts were in attendance to watch, but you can’t help but feel his price tag may have shot up following an outstanding start to the season in Portugal.

The Chronicle believe he could be a player Benitez moves for in January however, having this to say about the in-form 25-year old yesterday:

Here’s some clips of the Porto goal-machine this season:

  1. Don’t see the point in signing aboubakar when we will lose him for 4 weeks playing for Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations, and he may get injured and be out for longer. We need a striker to hit the ground running in January.
