NUFC’s odds slashed to sign Everton outcast before tomorrow night’s deadline

Newcastle’s odds have now been slashed to just 2/1 to sign Everton striker Sandro Ramirez on loan before tomorrow night’s deadline – with the Liverpool Echo revealing that any return to La Liga now looks unlikely for the Spaniard, meaning he may be left considering other options.

It is known that Benitez made an attempt to sign the former Malaga forward over the summer, but saw Everton win the race for his signature.

Since then he’s struggled to settle on Merseyside, however club sources at NUFC refused to dismiss talk of a move for the Spanish U-21 international after reports linking us with a loan move last week.

It was claimed that he preferred a move to Sevilla over a move north to Tyneside, however the ex-Barcelona striker may have to reconsider after the Echo revealed that several Spanish sides are unable to cover his ‘six-figure’ wage packet (something the Mail said we were willing to do just last week).

Here’s what the Liverpool Echo have had to say about his potential exit before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline:

“If Sandro Ramirez is to leave Goodison this month, it appears bookmakers can only see one destination for the former Malaga man.

“They’ve installed the Magpies as 2/1 favourites to sign the striker, with Brighton, Swansea and West Brom all trailing at 8/1.

“Sandro’s wages seem to be a stumbling block for Spanish sides who haven’t got the resources to match his six-figure weekly pay packet, and with the Blues holding out for a loan fee on top of a full wage payment, the youngster could find himself remaining on Merseyside until the end of the season.”

So, with Benitez clearly an admirer of his, a return to Spain looking unlikely and us STILL without a new striker, this one could make a lot of sense.

One to watch over the next 24 hours..
