According to leading German outlet BLID, Rafa Benitez could be set to make a summer move for in-form Bundesliga striker Sébastien Haller this summer – providing we secure Premier League safety over the coming months.
This isn’t the first time our interest in the 6ft 3′ forward has been reported, with Benitez said to have made contact with the striker in the summer of 2016 prior to our year in the Championship.
Haller played for Eredivisie side FC Utrecht back then, however his since moved to Frankfurt, with his form in Germany believed to have attracted the interest of ourselves, West Ham and Inter Milan according to BILD.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has 12 goals and 5 assists in 23 games for his new club Frankfurt on the back of 16 goals and 6 assists in Holland the year before.
Whilst Islam Slimani could be looked at on a permanent deal should he be a hit between now and May, he does turn 30 this year, so it’s easy to see why Benitez will be looking at more long-term options – with Haller being 7 years younger than the Leicester City loanee.
