Why NUFC got extremely lucky over the weekend despite losing 2-0 at Liverpool

Saturday may have ended in defeat, with goals from Salah and Mane seeing us off 2-0, however things could have been much much worse, with Jamaal Lascelles lucky to have stayed on the pitch and escape suspension.

We could and should have had him sent off for bringing down a goal-bound Mo Salah – a decision that would’ve seen our skipper and most influential player suspended for Saturday’s visit of Southampton.

It may have been outside the box, but this was a clear goalscoring opportunity and quite a clear nudge from Lascelles, meaning he was very lucky to escape a straight red and subsequent one-game ban.

Saturday’s performance may have been frustrating and tough to watch at times, but let’s just count our lucky stars that the referee missed it.

The Southampton game is perhaps our biggest game to date this season, and having the skipper missing for that one would’ve been a hammer blow.

Do you think it was a foul folks?
