After confirming that Newcastle are now closing in on the loan signing of Kenedy, Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves has admitted that his move from Chelsea could be completed ‘this week’.
Nothing has been announced as of yet, but Sky have confirmed that Newcastle have held ‘positive talks’ with Chelsea over a deal which would see the Brazilian return to St James’ Park on loan for the 2018/19 season.
There’s no mention of an option to buy by Sky – which is a slight issue as far as his potential long-term future is concerned – however it would be a real boost for Benitez and us fans to see him back for at least another year.
When asked how long he thinks it will take for the deal to be announced, here’s what he had to say:

Let’s hope this is the case and this one is wrapped up over the coming days. It would mean Kenedy could link up with the first-team for this week’s training camp in Ireland – something you just know Benitez will be pushing to secure as he prepares for the new season.
There’s a long way to go – with a striker (or two), Townsend, a new number 10 and defensive cover still being pursued – but getting Kenedy back for at least another season would be a good start ahead of the final month of the transfer window.

Wouldn’t be happy with just a season long loan with no option to buy ,is this Ashley telling us that we won’t have much to spend next season too as well as the upcoming season as well

Is a Sky reporter really in a position to “admit” this?

No Jack – this is nothing to do with Ashley telling us anything. This is you jumping to a conclusion.
The article says there was no mention in the Sky report – it doesn’t say there’s no clause.
Other sources are reporting a clause to buy.
