Newcastle ‘interested’ in signing Jan Carlos Hurtado – Report

According to Argentinian radio station ‘221 Radio’, Newcastle are interested in signing Venezuelan international striker Jan Carlos Hurtado.

The 19-year-old forward plays in the Argentinian Premier League, having scored in his last two games after breaking into Gimnasia’s first team.

It’s claimed that Marseille and Serie A side Atlanta are also keen on the 6ft’ striker who’s recently earned his first call up to the Venezuelan national side.

Hurtado has only just broke into the Gimnasia side this season – who are currently in 18th place, just above Fabricio Coloccini’s San Lorenzo side – but has managed just 2 goals and 1 assist in 17 appearances this season.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we held interest given we’re said to be reverting a policy of signing young talents with potential / sell on value, but there’s only one Venezuelan striker we should definitely be signing this summer – and that’s Salomon Rondon.

Here’s Hurtado in action, showing the young striker’s outrageous piece of skill over the weekend:
