The Athletic claim NUFC duo have no “long-term futures” at the club & could be sold in January

Magpies misfits Javier Manquillo and Ki Sung Yueng could be headed for the St James’ Park exit door in the New Year before both player’s contracts expire at the end of the season.

This comes from one of Chris Waugh’s latest pieces for The Athletic, which reveals that both players will NOT be handed new deals, with Lee Charnley instead expected to try and move them on in January to free up the club’s wage bill.

This could be a wise move for all parties. Ki has found himself way down the pecking order despite a bright start on Tyneside, and at 30 years old the South Korean would likely stifle the careers of both Matty and Sean Longstaff or take home a heft wage for nothing if he were to stay at the club.

Manquillo has had a similar story since the arrivals of Emil Krafth and Jetro Willems – I genuinely forgot he still played for the club – but one thing the Spaniard does have to his advantage is versatility as he can occupy either full-back position.

Both players were signed by Rafa Benitez and were never seriously going to become long-term regulars for the club, but one player who The Athletic also say will be moved on is forgotten goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Elliot was signed from Charlton by Alan Pardew back in 2011 but has only mustered 68 appearances for Newcastle since his arrival in a career that has seen most of his time at the club spent as an understudy to whoever has been our number 1 at the time.

It is thought that the club will not push the Republic of Ireland international out of the door in January and will instead keep Elliot on the books until his contract does expire at the end of the season.

  1. The defending champion was in order for his rival Liverpool to be left with a distance of nine. Facing Newcastle host, the team that is playing is not good from the beginning of the season until now, most likely the students of the student Pep Guardiola will have the next three points in the match.
