The inquest into our utterly hapless display against Everton on Sunday will see people find various culprits to blame; but for me a large chunk of blame has to go to our captain Fabricio Coloccini.
In a game where the team seem to start brightly the wheels soon fell off big style. First up we failed to get a stonewall penalty, quite how Martin Atkinson failed to see the ball bounce off James McCarthy’s arm is a mystery. That decision was to soon haunt us as McCarthy opened the score with a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box which Tim Krul should really have done better with. Try as they might they simply couldn’t find a way back into the game and were finding it hard to keep Lukaku locked out who was afforded the freedom of the pitch by Newcastle.
Second half saw the introduction of Ayoze Perez in place of Obertan but we only had to wait around ten minutes before Everton struck again, this time the afore mentioned Lukaku slotted home a penalty conceded after Gouffran brought down Lennon just inside the box.
Then just when you need a clear level head our Captain decides that it’s fine to make a late, studs up challenge! Quite why he felt when the game was lost that a challenge like that was warranted I have no clue. To make matters worse it leaves us at the bare bones with defenders now, just one senior centre back available.
Fast forward to injury time and the impressive sub Ross Barkley rounds Tim Krul to slot home Evertons third of the game.
I don’t know what’s the sadder, the lack of leadership off the pitch or on it. Not once have I seen our Captain berate or encourage other players and it was very disappointing he chose yet again not to speak up at the end of the game in front of the cameras to explain his action and that of the team. No, that was left to Ryan Taylor the consumate professional to address.
Am I the only one here who thinks the time is well over due for a change in captain? To make a challenge like that when we are at bare bones and the game lost is unforgivable in my opinion. And so we go into a derby in two games time against what will possibly be a boyed Sunderland with a new boss in place, with one senior center Back.
I haven’t gone into our attempts as there wasn’t many to be honest, a decent free kick from Taylor and a well saved shot from Sissoko late on the only stand out moments.
Quite where we go from here on in heaven only knows, with just one decent forward in Perez and a patched up defence we are really up against it for the run in.
I feel a bit sorry for John Carver, he has had terrible luck with injuries and suspensions and to be fair his comment about not being Houdini is fair. But if John Carver isn’t the leader for this team then our captain certainly isn’t either.
BY KIMTOON

So Janmaat is going to play Cb even though he’s never done so before this weekend. Well we were gonna get beat anyways but now I see a mauling.
kimtoon(Quote)
Where did you see that Kim? If that’s confirmed by Carver, Satka might as well start looking for a league 1 club now.
GTE(Quote)
GTE, not sure if certain just seen this

kimtoon(Quote)
Thanks Kim.
GTE(Quote)
It’s all over the papers up here Kim- Janmaat says he’s willing to give it a go but he’s never played there before. It’ll be alright – Willo will look after him 🙄
georgio(Quote)
In the principle of playing as many outfield full backs as possible, can we expect next season’s defence and central mf to be:
Anita
Janmaat
Dummett
Haidara
Raylor
Jonas
See Mike, nee need to sign any centre back or defensive mf…
GTE(Quote)
GTE – Ferguson might be fit by then!
georgio(Quote)
Ryan Taylor’s contract has to be renewed first GTE or we are another man down defence wise.
GTE(Quote)
Siem De Jong might pick up another injury and be out for another season so not looking good there either.
GTE(Quote)
I typed the wrong name in the box GTE mate. I am so sorry. I was replying to are defensive options. Never done that before feel stupid
Terry(Quote)
158 and 159 is me GTE.
Terry(Quote)
Woooaah! Ghost typing 😕
GTE(Quote)
No worries Terry – makes you wonder how often that happens. Kim’ll be devastated when Big Dave reveals that he’s Troy in disguise 😯
GTE(Quote)
Sorry GTE got a bit absent minded or a bit ahead of myself then. Wont happen again promise. I was thinking about are defensive options next season and I think we could lose Jonas Guttierez and Ryan Taylor that’s all I wanted to say.
Terry(Quote)
I can’t be the first one to do that surely lol ?
Terry(Quote)
If shouting & pumping fists were signs of leadership then Alan Smith would go down as a great captain, Sadly I can’t think of anything noteworthy he did with the ball in 5 years at SJP
Colo has never been vocal; He wasn’t when we got back up, He wasnt in wins & clean sheets vs Chelsea/man utd/man city/arsenal/liverpool ETC. He wasn’t when we got into europe and he got into the team of the year. He led by example and inspired others with his performances.
Id rather a mixture of the two but its more important that the captain contributes and doesnt just scream like a banshee and point. An fit in form Tiote would have been perfect but will he even be here next season?
CC(Quote)
So… **** Advocaat to the Mackems. Appointed in less than 24hrs… And the fat man took several weeks then came up with…. Carver. That looks like 5 in a row for the scum then….
Dubai-Toon(Quote)
I’m torn, Dubai-Toon – I’d love to **** on their parade, and hate us to lose again, but I’d equally love a humiliating result and perfomance to put the nail in JC’s coffin. Ideal result is probably that we suck up the bad loss, but that the mackems go down anyway 😀
GTE(Quote)
So it’s **** Advocaat til the end of the season for Sunderland. He’s surely not a master tactician like Johnny C. is he? No, with our tremendous attack ( 😯 ) and our tremendous defense ( 😯 ) we’ll give them a good fonging won’t we? Well won’t we? Harrumph!!!
GeordieTwo(Quote)
G2 We got Mike Ashley are beloved owner and millions resting in the bank account that’s all we need mate.
Terry(Quote)
It is deja vu all over again. Doesn’t it seem like we are repeating last season and our season is spiraling out of control? Maybe it is even worse because the squad is even more depleted through injury whereas Pardew had a choice of players but just fell out with them.
I can see us suffering a few more heavy defeats but we do have some quality so we will win and draw one or two. Another 6 points maybe? Just like last years run in.
I was watching the Everton game on my couch and actually fell asleep on about 75 minutes (admittedly, I had a hard night the night before). Then I got to wondering, why do I still support this shower of *****? How many games have we actually played well in this season? Hull. Don’t say Chelsea, we rode our luck in that one, they had 26 shots FFS.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
More important comments from Johnny C.:
“I believe in building the club from the defense out. That’s why I’m working so hard on our goal difference right now. And bedding in all the exciting new players we got in January of course with the huge profit from last season. You see, I know deep down that Mike really cares about the club. That’s why he’s spending the way he is. Errrm, can someone lend me the cab fare home?”
GeordieTwo(Quote)
Oh and all the tremendous players we have at our disposal. There’s “I’ll go for the takeaway this time” Obertan, and “goal a game” Riviere and the very exciting set piece target “Mike the poacher” Williamson. Beautiful.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
It would all be hilarious if it wasn’t his own club the owner was sh*tting on.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
The really sad thing is that Mikey Williamson has looked one of our better players in recent games. Apart from when he is caught upfield after every set piece and has to gallop back like a lame donkey as we are hit on the counter.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
How many goals will we score by the end of the season? I’m thinking about 5 with the players available. How many will we allow? There I would guess 12-15. So a goal difference of -21 to -24. And possibly 40 points. Shambolic at best. Criminal ownership at worst.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
Spot on Eric mate. There’s nothing like watching a lame donkey try to gallop. Except possibly the sight of Carver’s face after Everton scored their third as easy as pie.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
It couldn’t get much more disgusting at the club really. I suppose they could re-hire Kinnear or bring back Dennis Wise but other than that what could they do to further ruin the club? I guess another few years of Ashley will take care of that.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
Charlton Cole and Darren Bent are available on the free in the summer so Mikey’s got are strike force sorted next season.
Terry(Quote)
Micah Richards is also available on the free so that’s are defence sorted.
Terry(Quote)
I would say James Milner but his wage demands would frighten Mikey.
Terry(Quote)
No, we’ll go for young’uns as usual Terry so that if one of them succeeds he can be sold for huge profit by Mike. Pay and go to the ground and support Mike or boycott and get rid of the parasite. I don’t see any other option.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
G2 I wouldn’t pay to watch that *****. I would rather watch gateshead instead until Ashley’s gone.
Terry(Quote)
“When the local newspaper attempted to find out more about him, they eventually resorted to placing an advert in their own pages appealing for information — No one responded.” From Wikipedia. Mike Ashley. Known by few. Loved by none. Died rich and alone. Sound about right Mike?
GeordieTwo(Quote)
Steven Gerrard is also free in the summer. Mikey could put an insulting offer in and get rejected as usual but the fans will be happy we tried.
Terry(Quote)
Spot on Terry mate.
GeordieTwo(Quote)
G2 there are lots of players out of contract in the summer that would strengthen this team in all areas. I wouldn’t be so offended if at the very least he did that mate.
Micah Richards and James Milner would be big improvements and Ayew also.
Terry(Quote)
They probably wouldn’t come here but we need more experienced players.
Terry(Quote)
Drogba and Terry might be worth considering. I’m dreaming.
Drogba, Milner, Richards, Gerrard, Terry, Ayew.
Get them over the line Mike.
Terry(Quote)
If our new head coach gave Mikey a list like that he would probably choke on his tea.
Terry(Quote)
Even the old washed up players are better than everyone in are team ffs.
Terry(Quote)
Id take Drogba, Id take Milner, Ayew would be awesome, this guy plays hard as f***.
Cholo A. Sall(Quote)
So I see Captain Colo’s appeal was rejected, no big surprise there. And I wont be surprised if the club let him go back to Argentina for a wee holiday.
Big Dave(Quote)
Does anybody want Carver as the head coach apart from Troysta who thinks that Pardew did such a great job with the resources available and obviously the Assistant Manager was part of that so deserves this chance?
Carver has been dealt a difficult hand with injuries but in my opinion he could fuvk up with Bayern’s of Barcelona’s team. He’d have Messi playing left back 🙂
Janmaat is going to play centre back even though he has never played it before in his life. Doesn’t that just sum up where we are? We didn’t plan and are managing more in hope than by design. We were out played and out coached by an Everton team who had had like one win in 10 league games and had played in Europe on the Thursday.
I know people complain about Gouffran but I feel sorry for the bloke. There is no way he knows what his role is. He goes from striker to auxiliary left back to mid-field all in the same game.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Dave, Course they will, he’s banking on it 😉
kimtoon(Quote)
Eric, Goofy has been made to play the Jonas role .
On Ayew, good player but it’s another we’d lose to the ACON, I would like to see a few British players come in tbh.
kimtoon(Quote)
Big D: what were the grounds for the appeal? It was never going to be rescinded. Was it like, but we haven’t got anybody else, and Colo has nice curly hair and is good to his kids?
It really is symptomatic of our club that they waste time with a totally frivolous appeal that even the kids on Ed’s Blog knew wouldn’t succeed.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Don’t know why Satka isn’t getting a chance
kimtoon(Quote)
Eric, Perhaps he was hoping they’d add an extra game, so he can chillax a little longer.
kimtoon(Quote)
Kimtoon: ACON is now every 2 years again so it is not as bad as recently when they changed the scheduling and there were 3 in 4 years. I have watched a bit of the French League and Ayew is worth it in my opinion. Much more physical than Cabella and I like Cabella and think given a little bit more time and surrounded by better players he will come good.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Do we all just laugh at this now because everything except the finances seems like a circus? They really do not seem to know what they are doing – from bringing people back from injury at the correct time, to formations, to free kicks, to not knowing Sammy can take corners. To borrow a Troysta acronym YCMIU.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Some of the comments on here about **** Advocats appointment are hilarious. Just coz he was appointed within 24hrs doesn’t make it a good appointment!.
I also read that it doesn’t matter who we appointment – the manager is only as good as the squad and Sir Alex couldn’t do nowt with our lot!!. If that’s the case, what chance has **** got with the Scum?! 😆
Newkie – sore looser 🙄
Sharpy17(Quote)
And still there is a reluctance to release the financial results.
Surely we could all do with a piece of good news about now.
I can only assume they are going to be embarrassingly good.
Maybe after we beat the mackems 😯 will be the right time, when everyone is in a good mood for a change.
If not then, then after any win.
plan B will have to be end of the season while we are all celebrating another great year of EPL survival.
Break it to us gently big boy 😈
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
Kim I would be well fuked off if they do let him go back, as he is supposed to be our captain and should be here with the team, trying to rally the troops for the run in.
Eric god knows why the club tried to appeal it and on what grounds
Big Dave(Quote)
Big Dave – I think it was a shot in the dark. Not much to lose really. Even the threat of an extra match ban for being frivolous wouldn’t have bothered the club hierarchy.
The appeal al least made it LOOK like they were bothered. 😉
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
John Carver has been thrown in the deep end in my opinion. Troysta is correct the players aren’t good enough but I also feel are coaching staff isn’t good enough. Ashley doesn’t give a flying **** about the team as long as they don’t get relegated. 50000 fans want to let him walk all over them then thing’s will stay the same. I agree with G2 on that but same old, same old.
Terry(Quote)
As for Colo, I would be having him work one on one with Satka in training over the next 3 weeks – like a mentor type role.
On match days id expect to see him on the bench or at least in the stands providing support to his team mates – particularly for the Derby game.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Good one sharply
Bang on
So that will be him off on his jollies then. 😉
Nobody at the club would have thought along those lines.
Boots(Quote)
Summer signings I’d like to see would be:
Micah Richards & Grant Hanley for Colo & Willo.
Tom Cleverley for Tiote.
Nathan Dyer for Obertan
Martin Harnik for Gouffran
Scott Sinclair for Marveaux
Cheick Diabate for Chucky
The biggest problem would be finding someone daft enough to take the players I’m wanting rid of though 🙄
Sharpy17(Quote)
So you’re not wanting to improve the squad too much then, Sharpy?
Stuart79(Quote)
Stu – money wise, it wouldn’t be mega bucks but it would take effort from Charnley.
Mind you, the new coach is already sorted so that’s one less thing to get in the way 🙄
Sharpy17(Quote)
I’m not too impressed with your choices to be fair. Debatable whether they would improve us
Stuart79(Quote)
Stu – they aren’t gonna get us into the top 5, I accept that, but I reckon they are improvements on what we have now – top 8 I’d reckon.
I’d have stuck Ayew & Ings in there too, but I honestly don’t think we’d beat the competition to their signings.
Sharpy17(Quote)
Since Keegan took over the first time I don’t think I can recall so much despair around NUFC. I check a few of the Blogs and The Chronicle and I really see very few positive comments. Even when we got relegated I don’t think it was this bad, possibly because there was a feeling that things could get better. Now it is just a bitter resignation that nothing will change. Even Ed Harrison has thrown in the towel and he was the organisations biggest cheer leader at one time.
I think it is like Stuart and Troysta say that there is almost an inevitability that we will end up with Carver. Then you check the Chronicle and it shows 97% don’t want him. It is a big f@ck you from Ashley to the fans. And who are these 3% and are they allowed out alone?
Eric Sykes(Quote)
the 3% are the same idiots that say ” its ok he’s a Geordie, he’s one of us.
He deserves (ha!) his chance etc etc
brain dead basically
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
The kind of **** that punches a horses head 😕
go figure
Beardsleys Boots(Quote)
Nice to see Psychs is still twisting my words @194

Troy Stavers(Quote)
It’s not as if Carver’s got a team of world class player’s to work with is it ? Our team is in very bad shape from defence to attack. He is probably the main candidate because he wants the job and no-one else does. Most managers can’t stand Ashley anyway.
Terry(Quote)
Troysta @217: I was pulling your leg. Believe it or not I respect your opinion. I argued with you about Pardew because I really don’t like him and thought he was undeservedly in his job. With the injuries and idiotic transfer strategy I think Carver is screwed and it would be hard for anybody to do a good job at the club under the present circumstances. That is a separate issue from believing he deserves the job (or even a chance at it). He was complicit with Pards in the awful football over the past 2 years and there is nothing in his CV that suggests that he is even close to being qualified to manage the 19th richest club in the world except that he will take it up the **** from Fatty.
Eric Sykes(Quote)
Let’s play a little game… Can any one spot the question in the pile of drivel below?
Troy Stavers says:

So will Huffstar, having been corrected by Sharpy, please acknowledge that to be vocal is a good attribute of a good leader. It’s just one of a number of attributes that a good leader should possess. Not having this attribute doesn’t stop you being a leader but to have the attribute is better than not having it. We are waiting Huffstar. Ask Tom, **** or Harry if you wish.
Please enter the answer here:
Aussie Magpie Fan(Quote)
AMF: I don’t really mind Troysta that much and he does raise a few issues now and again that would make you think that he is actually an intelligent life form. For me he helped crystalise that perhaps nobody is capable of doing a good job under the present system and that my hatred of Pardew may possibly be slightly too harsh and there was blame to go around elsewhere.
As to your question @220, I don’t know. Maybe the real question should be when are Troysta and Stuart going to get a room?
Eric Sykes(Quote)
“Maybe the real question should be when are Troysta and Stuart going to get a room?”
I’m sure they can share with Big Dave.
brisvegas(Quote)
So Huffstar, please acknowledge, having been corrected by Sharpy, that being vocal is a good attribute of a good leader.
You can make snidey remarks til the roos come home and run to the outback in a huge huff as much as you want but please answer the above.
This is now the third time this has been posted to get you to answer and remarkably reposted by you. YCMIU
Troy Stavers(Quote)
You are asking me to acknowledge something. ..that is not a question. … jesus wept, Stuart obviously loves you for your body (snide remark)
Aussie Magpie Fan(Quote)
Come on now Huffstar
To remind you of your tremendous post. ;
Leadership has nothing to do with being vocal on the park!… it is about setting examples around commitment to a cause, passion and relentless effort!
Any tom **** or harry can stand there and yell at his team mates. It achieves fuk all and only gets the other players backs up..
But I guess it is important to some fans that see it as a quality leadership attribute.
So after Sharpy put you right on the subject are you now going to acknowledge that being vocal is actually a good attribute of a good leader.
You can twist, turn and wriggle as much as you want but it will only end up in you exploding in a gigantic hissy fit once again.
This is the 4th time now. We are waiting Huffstar. 😛
