Slam Dunk! Newcastle Should Look At Brighton Defender

July 15, 2016July 15, 2016 Andy The Magpie

With Blackburn Rovers continuing to play hardball over the fee for Scottish international Grant Hanley, HITC is suggesting that Newcastle United might be interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk instead.

The 24 year-old centre back is highly thought of on the south coast and as well as being a stalwart of the Seagulls defence, scored four times in the Championship last season. It’s a goal threat which would serve us well this season, especially from set-pieces.

Rafa Benitez will appreciate Dunk’s ball-playing qualities, as well as being a solid centre back in the air, which will be useful in the Premier League when we win promotion(!)

Brighton are likely to resist moves for Dunk in the same way Blackburn aren’t letting Hanley go without a fight but with Rafa determined to strengthen the back four ahead of the start of the season, is Dunk a more realistic target?
