Matt Ritchie explains why he has been left frustrated

October 25, 2016October 25, 2016 Andy The Magpie

Speaking to Newcastle United’s official website, Matt Ritchie has stated that he is frustrated at not having taken his chances in front of goal during recent matches.

Newcastle United made a sizeable splash this summer by splashing in excess of £12 million to secure the services of Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth and it has to be said that the investment is already paying dividends for the Magpies.

Ritchie has managed to woo the Newcastle United faithful with his sensational performances and he is sure to be crucial if Rafael Benitez’s men are to earn promotion into the Premier League this season.

While Ritchie has been universally lauded for his exploits during the current campaign, the 27-year-old has gone on to surprisingly make a critical assessment of his displays over the past few matches.

The Scotsman admitted that he has been profligate in recent times and is hopeful of being more ruthless in front of goal.

The attacker told Newcastle United’s official website, “I’ve been beating myself up a little bit. I’ve had a couple of chances of late – I had one against Norwich late on and I had one in the first half (against Ipswich) as well that I probably should have done a bit better with.”
