Joshua King makes bold statement on his Bournemouth future following NUFC interest

Newcastle United target Joshua King has spoken out on his future at Bournemouth, suggesting he has no intention to leave the south coast side this summer.

The Northern Echo claimed on Saturday that Newcastle had made the in form striker their number one attacking target this summer, .

The 25 year-old is the 7th top scorer in the Premier League this season, bagging an impressive 16 goals for Bournemouth, however his latest comments won’t be what Newcastle fans were hoping to hear.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the Norwegian said the following about his future with the Cherries:

“I cannot wait for next season to start,”

“I have enjoyed being here from day one.”

“Being noticed by other clubs is positive but my focus is 100 per cent here.”

“This is the first season where I have scored goals like this. Next year I need to prove myself and do it all again.”

“I set myself a target of 15 goals at the start of the season and have been building my confidence. One you start scoring it builds.”

Whilst King would seem like a very useful signing for us this summer, he makes a valid point – this is the first real goal scoring season. He’s had an outstanding year but can not be regarded as a ‘proven’ Premier League striker just yet and he seems to acknowledge that.

I’d not be complaining if he was holding up the black and white shirt in August, but considering he’d demand a fee, maybe his desire to prove his worth over another season Bournemouth wouldn’t be a bad thing after all.
