It looks like the arrival of Florian Lejeune could kick our recruitment drive into gear, with The Chronicle revealing today that TWO more deals are at an ‘advanced’ stage as Rafa hopes to confirm another signing this week.
The Chronicle confirmed today that Newcastle have ‘offers on the table’ for a ‘creative midfielder’, as well lodging enquiries for several wingers, suggesting Benitez is looking to add to his midfield options over the coming week.
NUFC editor Mark Douglas also stated the following in reaction to the signing of Lejeune on his Facebook account this morning:
“United are also fairly advanced in two other deals so it wouldn’t surprise me if there are other additions this week.”
With regards to the ‘creative midfielder’ in question, the likes of Lewis Holtby, Gabriel Pires and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are three players who fit that bill, with Newcastle having also been heavily linked with Montpellier maestro Ryad Boudebouz in recent weeks.
Hull City’s Kamil Grosicki is a winger that has been mentioned repeatedly in recent days, with Newcastle’s interest in England U-21 wide men Demarai Gray and Jacob Murphy also being confirmed last week.
Time will tell, but it’s great to finally see Newcastle’s summer rebuild get underway.
