Sporting Director in talks with Rafael Benitez over the transfer of 25-year-old

August 22, 2017August 22, 2017 Andy The Magpie

According to reports from Italian outlet Gazza Mercato, Bologna Sporting Director Riccardo Bigon has held talks with Rafael Benitez over the transfer of Achraf Lazaar.

Rafael Benitez made a number of good signings last season but his recruitment of full-back Achraf Lazaar certainly left many people confused.

Lazaar was signed by Benitez last summer from Palermo on a five year deal and the fans were excited to see how the Moroccan international would be able to acquit himself in the English game.

Bafflingly though, Lazaar was hardly handed any playing time whatsoever throughout the course of the campaign and the 25-year-old ended the season with only 36 minutes of Championship action under his belt.

Therefore, it is widely expected that Lazaar will be leaving Newcastle this summer and according to Italian outlet Gazza Mercato, revelations can be made that the 25-year-old could join Italian outfit Bologna.

The Sporting Director of the Italian side, Riccardo Bigon, is said to have held talks with Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez over the transfer of Lazaar and it does look like the defender will be ending his horrible stay in England within the next few days.
