Newcastle United want 28-year-old to replace Dwight Gayle

August 31, 2017August 31, 2017 Andy The Magpie

According to reports, Newcastle United want to replace Dwight Gayle with Arsenal attacker Lucas Perez on deadline day.

Newcastle United are certainly expected to have a frantic transfer deadline day and one player who looks certain to be leaving is Dwight Gayle after Fulham are said to have placed a sizeable £15million on the table for the 26-year-old.

Given the large nature of the bid, Newcastle are ready to allow Gayle to leave but will only do so if they can sign a replacement.

Now according to reports, claims are being made that the Magpies want to sign Lucas Perez as the ideal candidate to fill in the void set to be left by Gayle and Arsenal are said to be ready to allow the 28-year-old to leave today, following months of haggling over his price.

Perez would surely be a good signing for Newcastle but Deportivo La Coruna still remain very much in the hunt to sign the Spaniard and it will be interesting to see if the Magpies are able to get the deal through within the next few hours.
