Fans raise big concerns over NUFC star after what they saw at Liverpool on Saturday

Newcastle United fans have raised their concerns over Mikel Merino’s poor performance in Saturday’s defeat at Liverpool, worrying that the midfielder looks a shadow of his former self on his return to the side.

In fairness, Merino is still young and inexperienced, so I’ve got no time for anyone deciding to write him off just months after claiming he was the best thing since sliced bread.

That being said, the emphasis really is on him to regain his best form now Jonjo Shelvey looks set for a spell on the sidelines. We need the old Mikel Merino back and quick, with Jonjo looking set to miss Saturday’s huge visit of Southampton.

  1. Kenedy bit meek and mild too. Atsu could be but rarely excels. Perez half a good player. Not even gonna mention Joselu. Defence are our best asset.

  2. Kenedy was similarly gentle and timid. Atsu could be, but she rarely outperforms. Perez is a good player in part. I won’t even bring up Joselu. Our best asset is our defense.
