According to Goal reporter Robin Bairner, Newcastle are one of three clubs interested in signing giant Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien – with Southampton and Everton also among the sides ‘tracking’ the defender.
With Florian Lejeune now out for the majority of the season, Rafa clearly wants a centre-back and it seems this may be one of his targets – not that the board seem to take much notice of his transfer demands..
This is not actually the first time we’ve been linked with a move for the former France U-20 international, with Ligue 1 journalist Manu Lonjon claiming that we were considering a bid for the 25-year old last month.
Jullien stands 6ft 5′ tall and is said to be available for ‘in the region’ of £8m according to Robin Bairner – who claims this would be a ‘bargain’ based on the deals done already this summer:

In the region of €10m – bargain by this summer's standards.

We need cover at centre-back, but I’m not convinced at all that we’ll be spending £8m plus on a defender given Rafa’s minuscule budget and desperate need for a new striker above all else.
