Newcastle keen to sign Leicester outcast on loan as Bruce eyes at least 4 more – The Athletic

Newcastle are interested in signing Demarai Gray if Leicester will allow the winger to leave on loan, according to The Athletic.

Their man in the North East, Chris Waugh, also states that Steve Bruce is hoping to bring in FOUR more, with ‘at least one striker, a left-back, a wide player and potentially, a centre-back’ on his radar.

The Athletic also confirms our interest in PAOK star Dimitris Giannoulis, stating financial problems could see the Greeks cash in on the left-back for as little as £5m.

Back to Gray, he’s a player The Telegraph said we were ‘keeping a close eye on’ back in July, with Mike McGrath’s piece stating Bruce was a big admirer of the 24-year-old.

That said, the former England U-21 star is now in the final year of his contract with the Foxes, so he’d have to sign a new deal or agree to a loan move with an OBLIGATION to buy if Brendan Rodgers were to let him leave on loan?

I can see him moving on this summer in a bid to get more game time at this crucial stage of his career, however I see Leicester cashing in on him – not allowing him to leave on loan.

After all, a loan deal for a player who’s just got 10 months left on his current deal seems highly unlikely unless an obligation to buy is included for the £20m-rated talent.
