Watch Miguel Almiron skin 5 Argentinians to win stunning penalty as he outshines Messi in World Cup qualifier

Miguel Almiron just loves playing against Argentina.

After being named man of the match with a stunning display against the South American giants in last year’s Copa America, our electric No 10 has gone and done it again in the early hours of Friday morning.

Paraguay came away with a brilliant 1-1 draw in Buenos Aires to boost their hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup – and he played a huge part, leaving four Argentinians for dead before being tripped in the box to win a penalty Ángel Romero would go on to convert.

Watch the clip below of his brilliant run to set up Paraguay’s opener:

His impressive night didn’t end there, however, with him not only posing a threat in the final third but doubling up with Paraguay’s left-back to keep none other than Lionel Messi quiet.

In the end, the Barcelona star was unable to get on the scoresheet as Argentina came away with a frustrating point – much to Paraguay’s delight!

Speaking to NUFC Blog, here’s what Bein Sports’ Roberto Rojas told us after the game, praising Almiron’s superb display and revealing how his second yellow card in two games looks set to keep him out of next week’s clash with Bolivia – which may be music to the ears for Steve Bruce!

Miguel Almiron had a great game.

“He was probably the best player for Paraguay within the 90 minutes.

“Almiron was explosive on the transition, won the foul that gave the penalty to Paraguay for Ángel Romero to score and he was able to contribute defensively.

Tireless display as he’s been accustomed to.

He won’t play in the next game against Bolivia due to him getting two yellow cards in two straight game, thus making him suspended.

Well done, Miggy!
