‘Source close’ to Spurs outcast says one of Newcastle, Celtic or Bournemouth will sign him this summer

According to reports in his homeland, Cameron-Carter Vickers could be on his way to Newcastle United this summer.

After reporting on our initial ‘interest’ in the forgotten Spurs centre-back in May, SBI Soccer’s Larry Henry is now claiming that the he’ll end up at one of three clubs – Newcastle, Celtic or Bournemouth.

He states that a ‘source close to the player’ has told them that Carter-Vickers believes the race for his signature is down to these three clubs, stating that we are ‘in the mix’ and ‘going over finances’.

Interestingly, The Athletic did report last week that he was a player we are looking at, with Graeme Jones recommending him to the club’s recruitment team after working with the 23-year-old at both Bournemouth and Luton.

He’s a difficult player to judge based on his complete lack of game time at Tottenham, with him featuring just FOUR times for the North London side.

The fact he’s surplus to requirements at Spurs and entering the final 12 months of his current deal may mean he is available to sign on a cut-price fee this summer, but is he really and upgrade on our current options? I don’t think so.

One to watch over the coming weeks, it seems, however I won’t be losing any sleep if Celtic or Bournemouth beat us to this one…
