Toon target reveals two laughable reasons he won’t join NUFC after chat with ex-Sunderland star

Earlier this month, Newcastle United were linked with a summer move for highly-rated Belgian Charles de Ketelaere.

A few weeks on, the 21-year-old has explained why he isn’t keen on a move to Tyneside, referencing two things that have off-put him following a chat with Simon Mignolet – the former Sunderland goalkeeper who now plays alongside him at Club Brugge.

Based on his conversations with Mignolet, de Ketelaere believes there is “not much to do in Newcastle” and doesn’t like the fact it gets dark “as early as 4pm” in the winter…

Here’s what he’s he had to say when asked about our rumoured interest:

“The Premier League is the highest you can go.

“That intensity too. In England, you become a better player. But I want to leave everything open.

“My girlfriend, Jozefien, must be able to continue her studies in dentistry in a good way.

“Mignolet once told me that there’s not much to do in Newcastle.

“And that in winter, it’s dark as early as four o’clock.”

The 6ft 3′ forward is one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, having bagged 17 goals and nine assists so far this season, however his response to links with a summer move to St James’ Park are not only laughable but make you question if this is the sort of character we want at the club!

We’ve recently seen a La Liga champion and Brazilian international leave European football for this exciting new project at Newcastle, and now we have someone wondering if it’s the right move for him because he might get bored (a well known myth) and won’t like it getting dark early in the winter.

Considering he’s keen on a move to the Premier League, he might be in for a shock when he realises London is only a few minutes behind us when it comes to the sun setting!
