€30m Brazilian now on Newcastle’s radar as club show ‘concrete interest’ – Report

As reported by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Newcastle have shown ‘concrete interest’ in AS Roma defender Roger Ibanez – who is believed to valued at €30m by the Italian side.

Newcastle are in need of new defenders with Federico Fernández and Ciaran Clark likely to leave in the summer, but look set to face competition for the Brazilian with Tottenham also said to be interested.

The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive first season at Roma player under Jose Mourinho, making 34 league appearances as well as starting their 1-0 victory over Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League final.

As he only just signed last summer, the former youth international still has another three years left on his contract and looks to be a key player for Roma’s future, so this may not be an easy deal to do unless we are willing to meet his alleged asking price.

Sven Botman appears to be edging closer to arriving at St James’ Park, but it seems Howe is in the market for two centre-backs this summer, making the right-sided Ibanez another one to watch.
