The Joao Pedro saga looks set to take a fresh twist, as The Mail’s Craig Hope is now reporting that Everton have entered the race to sign the Watford forward.
He claims that the Toffees are ‘preparing to match’ Newcastle’s latest offer for the Brazilian.
Our most recent proposal is believed to be in the region of £30m (including add-ons), with Sky Sports claiming that we remain in talks with Watford and are ‘hopeful’ of wrapping up a deal for the 20-year-old talent.
Interestingly, Sky’s Keith Downie claims that the player is keen to sign at St James’ Park, so we’ll have to hope this gives us the edge over Everton – who appear ready to submit a rival bid for the former Fluminense star.
Everton sold Richarlison for big money earlier this summer and have just received a £60m bid from Chelsea for Anthony Gordon, so there could be money available at Goodison Park if their local lad ends up leaving for Stamford Bridge.
Hopefully Pedro has his heart set on joining Bruno and Joelinton – two fellow Brazilians – on Tyneside and a deal can be wrapped up between Newcastle and Watford, if it hasn’t already!

Great! The shirt of a legend.
