Howe responds to Fabrizio Romano after claims Newcastle have ‘agreed’ to sign Joao Pedro

Last night, Fabrizio Romano announced that Newcastle United had agreed a deal worth £25m plus £5m in add-ons for Watford’s Joao Pedro.

He claimed there’d be a 10% sell-on clause and that a contract until 2028 was in place, stating it was now a matter of time until the 20-year-old arrived on Tyneside.

However, speaking to the press this morning ahead of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup clash with Tranmere, Eddie Howe has admitted these bold statements from Romano are “not entirely accurate.”

He admits to not being involved in every deal detail of dealings on a “minute to minute” basis, but he does seem to think the renowned journalist has jumped the gun slightly on this one.

Here’s what Howe told the press just moments ago when asked if the Pedro reports were true:

“I think that’s not entirely accurate.

“But I’m not dealing with these things minute by minute, day to day.

“I’m sort of in the background hearing what’s happening but I don’t think that’s correct.”

So, the wait goes on, but it does feel like it’s a matter of when, not if, regarding the Brazilian’s proposed move to St James’ Park.
