The Joao Pedro saga is turning out to be an increasingly bizarre one.
The reliable Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday tea-time that a deal – worth £25m plus £5m in add ons – was ‘done’, only for Eddie Howe to suggest that was “not entirely accurate” in his Tuesday morning press conference just moments ago.
Now, just a few moments after Howe’s presser, Sky Sports have released some ‘breaking news’ claiming we’ve now launched an official bid in the region of £30m (including add-ons) for the Brazilian.
Keith Downie claims that Watford are considering the offer, with talks ongoing over the structure of payment. He also reports that Pedro wants to make the move to St James’ Park, stating that Newcastle are hopeful a deal will get done – despite there being ‘no agreement just yet.’
So, are Sky Sports just lagging behind Romano – who seems adamant that it’s a done deal – or has the Italian actually jumped the gun in his bold “here we go” update last night? Time will tell!
