It looks like Callum Hudson-Odoi will NOT be ending up at St James’ Park this summer.
According to some Sky Sports ‘breaking news’ released late last night, the Chelsea winger is now close to sealing a surprise move to Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old looks set to join the Bundesliga side on a season-long loan deal, with his brother and father – his two representatives – are in ‘advanced talks’ with the German giants.
This has also been confirmed by the Evening Standard, who claim the player has rejected Premier League interest from Newcastle, Southampton and Leicester to join Bayer Leverkusen – who have also beaten the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla to a deal.
Hudson-Odoi was believed to be one of four Chelsea players on Eddie Howe’s radar over the final 10 days of the transfer window, with The Athletic previously reporting that we’ve contacted the Blues over availability of him, Conor Gallagher, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja.
However, it seems the wide man will be linking up with fellow Toon target Moussa Diaby instead, giving us one less option to consider as we approach the final week of the window.
